With Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night, it looks like Atlus has been all about the Persona series of late, but key Atlus figures talk about what else they’ve been up to, in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]
The interview with Famitsu features Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka and representative Yukio Sugino, who mention other games the company is working on besides the Persona series.
I believe we’ll be able to announce ‘that title’ soon,” says Hiraoka. “At the moment, we’ve even begun development on a title that will be released in three years time.” Additionally, a brand new IP, similar to Catherine and Dragon’s Crown [as new standalone IPs] is in the works, too.
When speaking of the current generation of consoles with regard to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Hiraoka says, “As console game makers, of course we won’t just avoid them. We’ll definitely be making an effort on that front.”
With the Persona series booming in popularity with the anime, stage plays, film, and other cross-media developments, the series has been expanding, and Atlus look forward to working on more cross-media projects with other their other IP.
Food for thought:
While we don’t know for certain what the aforementioned game that Atlus are announcing soon is, it could very well be a formal announcement for a possible Etrian Odyssey II remake.
