U.S. video game sales results for the month of June 2015 are in.
General
Consumers spent $869.4 million on software, hardware, and accessories in June 2015, up 18 percent from the same period last year.
Hardware sales generated $313.1 million, up eight percent compared to last year.
Software sales generated $345.5 million, up 21 percent year-over-year.

Sony
PlayStation 4 again outsold the competition in June in both hardware and software sales, Sony confirmed.
The console outperformed Xbox One and other platforms, according to The NPD Group. Batman: Arkham Knight played a large role in its victory, Sony said.
“PlayStation 4 was the top selling console in the United States in June due to the overwhelming popularity of the Batman: Arkham Knight PS4 bundles,” a Sony spokesperson told GamesBeat. “PlayStation 4 also led software sales in June.”
Sony had a co-marketing deal with Warner Bros. for Batman: Arkham Knight that led Sony to package the game with new PlayStation 4s, as well as release a limited edition version of the console with Batman artwork on the hard-drive bay.
“PS4 continues to lead console sales in the U.S. and globally,” said the Sony spokesperson.
Microsoft
“Xbox One and Xbox Live continue to see strong growth in sales and engagement,” Microsoft said in a statement. “Xbox One sales in the U.S. were up 51 percent over June 2014 and active global Xbox Live users (Xbox One and Xbox 360) grew 22 percent.”
Nintendo
“Through the first six months of 2015, combined sales of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems have increased by more than 20 percent over the same time frame in 2014,” Nintendo said in a statement. “Much of this growth can be attributed to Nintendo 3DS and the new momentum created by the launch of New Nintendo 3DS XL on Feb. 13. So far this year, sales of Nintendo 3DS hardware have increased by more than 40 percent over sales at the same point last year.”
