A Chinese news portal NetEase has ran a survey, translated by Kotaku, asking users what video game console they are most likely to purchase. The Xbox One is launching in China in September, while the PlayStation 4 will launch sometime afterwards.
The survey asks if users are most interested in purchasing a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita / Vita TV, all the consoles, none, or remain purchasing systems off the gray market. Of the 6,488 people who answered the survey 57.3 percent said they would buy a PlayStation 4. Only 10 percent of people said they would purchase an Xbox One.
19 percent of people said they would buy consoles on the gray market and six percent would buy the PlayStationVita / Vita TV. Also six percent would purchase all the consoles.
The PlayStation 4 being more popular in China ahead of the consoles release is not surprising. The PlayStation 2 was officially sold by Sony, before the video game console ban. The PSP was also popular, despite never officially being released. The Xbox and Xbox 360 were never officially released in China.
China recently announced they will allow video game consoles to be released in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. Sony has a joint venture with the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group and Microsoft with BesTV.
