Square Enix has confirmed the departure of chief technology officer Yoshihisa Hashimoto, who left due to personal reasons. Hashimoto was leading the way on the company’s Luminous Engine technology.
Hashimoto’s position as CTO will remain vacant at Square Enix for the time being. Diancourt Remi will take over as manager of the R&D team overseeing Luminous’ development. Hideyuki Kasuga will assume the role as technical director on Final Fantasy XIV 2.0, and Hashimoto will remain available as a technical adviser if needed. Remi and Kasuga both worked closely with Hashimoto on the respective projects.
