At the Monster Hunter Festa ’15 tournament finals today in Tokyo, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Stories, an RPG spinoff for the 3DS poised for release sometime in 2016.
Five years in the making, little is known about the actual gameplay thus far, though Famitsu managed to solicit a brief quote on the game’s overall direction from series producer Kenzo Tsujimoto, remarking that “We want to imbue this game with a storyline and brand of fun that can only be done within the confines of an RPG, while still preserving the core sensibilities that people have come to associate with Monster Hunter.”
